Catalyst€2.96 – €79.84 (ex vat)
All resins, gelcoats and topcoats must have catalyst (hardener) added to start the curing process. The amounts vary between 1% – 4% by weight depending on the required cure time and temperature. Please view our Catalyst mixing chart. Catalyst is a corrosive material and must be handled with special care. Dispensers are strongly recommended for safe and accurate use. See section on hazards. Please Note: In order to comply with ADR Limited Quantity (Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) we can only ship in maximum units of 100ml eg: 1kg = 10 x 100ml. For large quantities, please contact us on +353 1 466 3786.
Acetone€4.97 – €37.50 (ex vat)
Acetone is the most popular and effective cleaner for removing uncured resin / gelcoat & topcoat from brushes and rollers. It can also be used to clean pre-sanded laminates prior to laminating. It should be kept in covered containers as it evaporates quickly and is highly flammable. It is not recommended for cleaning unprotected hands. See Section on Hazards Please Note: In order to comply with ADR Limited Quantity (Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) we can only ship in maximum units of 1lt eg: 5lt = 5 x 1lt containers. For larger quantities, 20lt & 25lt please contact us on + 353 1 466 3786 as we are unable to dispatch these sizes through our normal couriers, they require Haz Chem drivers. The goods are in stock and available for collection if required.
Styrene Monomer€9.76 – €42.85 (ex vat)
Styrene is both the solvent and crosslinking agent in polyester resins & gelcoat/ flocoat – the resins will all contain a specific amount of styrene in the formulation to give the particular viscosity needed for the end use of the resin.
It is possible to add more if you wanted to thin the resin down for any particular reason – generally you can add up to around 3 – 7% before you start to effect the properties of the resin. For instance you can convert a brush gelcoat to one thin enough to spray by adding styrene.
It is a very good solvent for oils and greases etc so can be used to degrease GRP or metals etc before you bond to it.
See Section on Hazards – Please Note: In order to comply with ADR Limited Quantity (Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) we can only ship in maximum units of 1lt eg: 5lt = 5 x 1lt containers.
